M-Line Monitor Arms - Humanscale

After ten successful years in the market the Humanscale Monitor Arm Line was due for an update. ONDA-ID was tasked with aiding the internal Humanscale Design Team in developing a strategy for the the re-design.

Based on internal Humanscale research, initial concepts and studies of other product re-designs, it was established that the aesthetics should maintain cues from the original design while taking current workspace trends into account. Additionally, we focused on expanding on the success of the previous generation by simplifying the line and adding new functionality.

With a clear strategy in place, ONDA-ID supported the Humanscale Design and Engineering teams in the execution of the project. This involved initial concepts, CAD development, renderings, prototype creation, considerations for manufacturing and review of sample components.

Updating Classics

In approaching this project we studied and discussed other product updates and what made them succesful (or not). We had the choice to make a light intervention or completely redesign the line.

The team concluded that succesful updates retain a clear lineage with their predecessors and can stand side by side without a sense of alienation.

Tangent Task Light - Teknion

The Tangent fixture is part of Teknions' Compliments line. It was designed to provide basic task light functionality in temporary desks, like those found in co-working spaces and hot desking offices.

ONDA worked with Teknion and it's subsidiaries to develop the aesthetics and functionality around an existing driver.

The light features an occupancy sensor, step dimming at 50 and 100%, a USB A outlet, and ships flat.

Clarity & Linea - ONDA Editions

These light fixtures where developed in house to address a clients gap in their offering. They are intended to be an entry level option for none dedicated workstations.

Costs are kept low by offering basic functionality with a simple construction, while still keeping a strong ID sense of form and color.

Stella Light - Barnes & Noble Nook

Stella is a reading light for the NOOK brand of eReaders. In designing this light, special attention was given to portability, light quality, battery life and integration with NOOK aesthetics.

ONDA's Fabian Monsalve supported the Vim and Vigor Design team in conducting research, concept development and design implementation including initial concepts and CAD modeling.

Float Table - Humanscale

The Humanscale Float Table is a revolutionary height adjustable table powered by a one of a kind counterbalance mechanism not found in competitors products prior to its release. The mechanism allows it to travel a larger range than similar tables while eliminating expensive and unreliable gas springs. Furthermore, the weight range can be altered easily, giving users and building managers unparalleled versatility.

ONDA worked with the Humanscale Design and Engineering teams from concept to production of the product.
